Biography
Professor John Jiang received his Ph.D. and Master of Science degrees in the Power Engineering and Mathematical Finance area from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the University of Texas at Austin in December 2005 and December 1998 respectively. Dr. Jiang also holds a Master of Engineering degree from the Institute of Electrical Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the Department of Electrical Engineering, Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, both with honors.
Before joining the University of Oklahoma in 2007, Dr. Jiang was a senior manager at a finance company starting in 2003, where he was responsible for quantitative analysis to support security pricing, real-time trading and strategic development for the companies $3 billion investment portfolio and enterprise asset-liability management. Previously, he was a consultant on various power system operation and market design issues at ERCOT, Texas. Prior to that, he worked for the Market Oversight Division of the Public Utility Commission of Texas on issues related to market design and government monitoring for nearly two years. Additionally, he has over three years of experience in risk management at power and utility companies. In addition, Dr. Jiang was in the renewable energy division working on advanced wind power control technology as a graduate research assistant at the Institute of Electrical Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences from 1992-1995.
