Biography
Maqsood M Elahi is a doctor at Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Department of Surgery, Texas A and M Health Science, Center at Scott and White Memorial Hospital, USA.
Research Interest
Dr Elahi's research includes investigating the role of blood-dependent redox activity and the biology of Nitric Oxide (NO) modulation in ischemia-reperfusion induced organ injury during extracorporeal circulation in ischemic heart disease. This has led to the Oxidative- Nitrosative Disequilibrium Hypothesis in collaboration with his British collaborator Dr Bashir Matata (FRS-Med) from the Liverpool Heart & Chest Hospital and University of Liverpool in United Kingdom and the invention of surrogate miniature cardiopulmonary bypass circuit.
