Biography
Dr Russell is the Masters of Public Health course coordinator and a lecturer in epidemiology. Melissa's background is as a physiotherapist and she has worked in a variety of fields of physiotherapy in Australia and overseas. In 2002 Melissa moved into a career in research, pursuing an interest in the benefits of physical activity. In 2008 Melissa completed her PhD through the Department of MEGA Epidemiology and National Ageing Research Institute. Her PhD focused on a randomized controlled trial investigating the effects of a falls prevention intervention for older people who had presented to Emergency Departments. Since graduating Melissa has continued to pursue her interests in epidemiology and physical activity. Throughout her career Melissa has been involved in the education of undergraduate and postgraduate students in physiotherapy and epidemiology.
