Biography
Dr. Abuzeid has presented on over 70 topics in obstetrics, gynecology, and human reproduction and infertility worldwide. In 1998 he received the Distinguished Speaker Award from the Middle East Fertility Society at their 6th annual meeting in Aman, Jordan. In 1995 he was the recipient of the 1st annual Faculty Investigator Award at Hurley Medical Center, presented by Michigan State University, Flint area, Medical Education Research forum. An award he received again in 1999. In 1998 he received the physician of the year award from the Arabic Heritage Council, Flint, Michigan. Graduating from Cairo University, Faculty of Medicine with honors. Dr. Abuzeid completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology in the United Kingdom at Westminster School of Medicine in London, England and at the University Hospital in Cardiff, Wales. He also completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Wayne State University, Affiliated Hospitals, Harper-Grace and Hutzel Hospitals. Following that, he held a fellowship in the Reproductive Endocrinology Division of the University of South Alabama College of Medicine. He then went to the United Kingdom where he taught at the University of Bristol and co-directed the In-Vitro Fertilization Unit. In 1989 he returned to the USA and joined the Hurley Medical Center where he started up a very successful In-Vitro Fertilization Unit. In addition to his responsibilities at IVF Michigan, Dr. Abuzeid is the Director of Reproductive Technology at Hurley Medical Center, Flint, Michigan, and a Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Michigan State University, Lansing, Michigan. He has published 18 journal articles, and contributed to six books and reviews. He has also co-authored over 45 scientific abstracts.
