Biography
Dr. Pengju George Luo is a Director of Research and an Associate professor of Department of Basic Sciences at Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic, USA. He has his M.D. in Clinical Medicine from Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science & Technology, china in 1997 and M.S. in Microbiology from Clemson University in 2003. He earned his Ph.D in Microbiology from Clemson University in 2006. In addition to his work at Sherman, he also holds an Adjunct Assistant Professor position in the Department of Biological Science at Clemson University. Dr. Luo’s research interests are in the interdisciplinary areas of microbiology and nanotechnology, focusing on the study of the antimicrobial applications and detection of bacterial species via the use of nanomaterials such as nanoparticles and nanotubes.

- Antimicrobial applications of various nanomaterials such as nanoparticles and nanotubes.
- Detection of pathogenic microorganisms using various nanomaterials conjugated with different biomolecules (e.g. antibody, carbohydrate)
- Biomedical applications of various nanomaterials (e.g. the use of fluorescent carbon quantum dots for cancer detection)
