Biography
Dr. Xuejun H Parsons received her PhD in Biochemistry/Molecular/Cell Biology from Cornell University in 1998, and completed her PostDoc studies as a Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Research Fellow at University of California at San Diego in 2002. Since, she has been supported by grants from National Institutes of Health (NIH) to become an independent investigator and leader in human embryonic stem cell (human ES cell) research. She is the Co-Founder and President of San Diego Regenerative Medicine Institute, Founder and CEO of Xcelthera INC, and Founder of California Consortium for Regenerative Medicine Startup. Previously, she was a stem cell scientist/faculty at University of California and Sanford Burnham Medical Research Institute. She is the inventor and corresponding author of more than 20 articles on human ES cell research in peer-reviewed journals and serves on the editorial boards of several open-access scientific journals. Dr. Parsons has many years of experience in biomedical research and life sciences industry, with expertise and leadership in human stem cell research and cell-based regenerative medicine. Her original human ES cell research breakthroughs and medical innovations have overcome some major obstacles in bringing human ES cell therapy derivatives towards clinical applications for unmet medical needs, which have generated intellectual properties (IP) to enable therapeutic development, commercialization, and clinical practice of proprietary human ES cell therapy tools and products for startup company.
