Alejandro Rodriguez-Garcia, MD, is a Clinical and Research Professor of Ophthalmology at Tecnologico de Monterrey School of Medicine & Health Sciences. He is also Director of the Ocular Immunology and Uveitis Service at the Institute of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences; Academic Director of Ophthalmology Residency Program; and Member of CONACYT National System of Researchers (Level-2). He is a former President of the Center for Ocular Inflammatory Disorders of the Mexican Society of Ophthalmology. Dr. Rodriguez-Garcia received the American Academy of Ophthalmology International Education Award, and the Best Clinical Professor of Medicine Award.

Purpose: To report a case of bilateral corneal edema in a patient with a history of cocaine abuse and bipolar-depression treated with amantadine for 6 months, and to review the literature on amantadine corneal toxicity.
Methods: The clinical record of a patient with amantadine corneal toxicity and the existing literature on this subject were extensively reviewed for prevalence, clinical presentation, pathogenesis and therapy.
