Biography

Eleri jones started her research career in the mid-1970s as a nutritional biochemist with a focus on ascorbic acid (vitamin C). Since the early 1990s her research focus has shifted to tourism and management. She therefore equally comfortable with the application of quantitative and qualitative methods and would categorise myself as a pragmatist.

The tourism industry is the cornerstone of the Egyptian economy generating approximately 11.4% of Egyptian GDP and providing about 12.6% of direct and indirect job opportunities for the Egyptian workforce. It is the most important source of foreign exchange earnings for the national income at 20%.
