Dr Emilio Ovuga, PhD dr med, is retired Professor of Psychiatry and Mental Health, and former Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Gulu University in northern Uganda. Dr Ovuga completed his undergraduate medical education at Makerere University in 1976, and postgraduate training in psychiatry at the same university in 1981. Dr Ovuga holds a joint PhD of Karolinska Institute, Sweden and Makerere University, Uganda, in suicidology and psychiatric epidemiology.

Objectives: In more than two decades northern Uganda was affected by the war between the government and the LRA. Children were abducted and affected during the war, but what is the psychological and social impact of war on the children?
Methods: In this study we reviewed 40 epidemiological trauma studies conducted in Uganda from 2004-2014 using databases.
