Actinic keratosis (AK) is a highly prevalent skin lesion worldwide with malignant potential. The incidence of this disease correlates with fair skin tone and cumulative sun exposure. Current standards of care include various topical treatments with variable efficacy and safety, photodynamic therapy and surgical excision as the most common therapeutic approaches. Solasodine rhamnosyl glycosides (SRGs) represent a group of mono, di, and triglycosides naturally occurring in plants of the Solanaceae family, genus solanum. Formulated as a cream for topical application, they have been in use worldwide for the treatment of AK, keratoacanthomas, BCC and SCC worldwide for over three decades.
