Assistant Professor at National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in Department of Haematology. As a Lecturer and Assistant Professor involved in the training of Hematology Fellows through everyday clinical practice, lectures and courses. Throughout the course of his medical career the focus of his interest was clinical work, in order to provide health services to patients according to the respective positions I held. Theodoros P. Vassilakopoulos has been responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of a significant number of in- and outpatients with a wide variety of hematologic diseases

White blood cell (WBC) reduction of whole blood (WB) with the use of in-line filters is a routine process at most blood centers in our country. The potential benefits by transfusing leukoreduced blood component are reduction in incidence of febrile nonhemolytic transfusion reactions as well as risk of human leukocyte antigen alloimmunization and cytomegalovirus transmission.
