Biography

Dr. Jason S. Ng received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern California College of Optometry after completing his BA degree at UC Berkeley. After several years in private practice, while also completing a PhD at the UC Berkeley School of Optometry that involved diabetic retinopathy and electrodiagnostics, Dr. Ng returned to the College. Dr. Ng is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry as well as a member of the American Optometric Association and the California Optometric Association.

Diabetes can lead to many systemic complications that include the nervous and renal systems. The vision of individuals with diabetes may be affected psychophysically, as noted with changes in dark adaptation, contrast sensitivity, glare recovery, color vision, and visual acuity. The primary ocular complication of diabetes is diabetic retinopathy-one of the leading causes of blindness in American adults.
