Masaru (Masa) Teramoto, PhD, MPH is a Research Assistant Professor in the Division of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. His research focuses on sports/exercise epidemiology and sports analytics. He also serves as a statistician to help other researchers. He is a member of the American Statistical Association. Prior to joining University of Utah, he was a faculty member at Drexel University (Philadelphia, PA).

This paper summarizes literature to explore the ways in which music therapy is able to act as a treatment for patients suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). In many countries, PTSD is treated with many different modalities. One of the most common forms of treatment currently includes the use of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors.
