Biography
Patrick M. Dougherty is professor at the Department of Pain Medicine, Division of Anesthesiology and Critical Care, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston. He received his PhD degree in 1988 from The University of Texas Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at Houston. His research is primarily focused on gaining a multidisciplinary understanding of the neurochemical and physiological consequences of peripheral injury and inflammation on neural activity in the CNS. Dr. Dougherty was awarded with the Outstanding Neuroscience Faculty Award by the University of Texas Medical School at Houston for the year 2008 and 2009.
