Valentini Kalargyrou, Ph.D. is a Fulbright scholar and Associate Professor of Hospitality Management in the Peter T. Paul College of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire. She had teaching appointments in the US, Austria and Singapore. Her far-reaching career of more than 30 years includes academic as well as international entrepreneurship activities. Dr. Kalargyrou served in leadership positions as an entrepreneur and was in the opening teams of integrated resorts in Las Vegas, Nevada. She has extensive industry experience in human resources and casino management; specifically in diversity and inclusion.

The Business Case of Employing People with Disabilities
As the baby boomer generation reaches retirement age, the retirement wave swells creating workforce shortage. Moreover, employee loyalty is declining; one recent study shows that 76 percent of full-time workers are willing to leave their current job for opportunistic reasons. The combined effects of these recent trends present a challenge for the labor intensive hospitality industry that requires both experienced and loyal workforce. Hence, employers should look for alternative sources of loyal and dedicated expertise.
