Dr Alida Benfante is Consultant Respiratory Physician at Paolo Giaccone University Hospital of Palermo, where she is head of the Outpatient Clinic of Severe Asthma. She graduated cum laude in 2009 at the School of Medicine, University of Palermo and participated to the Residence Programme in Respiratory Diseases in the period 2010-2015 at the same University. Dr. Alida Benfante was a research fellow in 2010 at The Johns Hopkins University. Bloomberg School of Public Health. Division of Physiology. Department of Environmental Health Sciences. Baltimore, MD, USA. She was a research fellow in the period 2015-2017 at the Department of Biomedicine, Internal and Specialistic Medicine, University of Palermo, Italy. Dr Benfante has experience in several clinical trials according to Good Clinical Practice and her research focuses on phenotypes, pathophysiological mechanisms and management of severe asthma. She has published more than 45 papers in peer-reviewed journals of respiratory medicine and she is co-author of book chapters.
