It is indeed with great pleasure that I present the research highlights and major achievements of Journal of Spine & Neurosurgery in this issue. The journal publishes updated and advanced clinical aspects and interpretations of various diseases and disorders affecting spine and nervous system in general including disease manifestation, clinical presentations, imaging features, anatomy, pathophysiology, prognosis, diagnostics, diagnostic strategies, surgical management, therapy and epidemiology.

The journal has consistently performed well with scientific excellence by regularly publishing quality peer-reviewed articles on a bimonthly frequency, ever since its inception in the year 2012. This has resulted insuccessful compilation of nine volumes of scientific literature including regular and special issues on wide range of topics relevant to spine and neurosurgery. Additionally, International Conference proceedings on contemporary and trending research activities pertaining to nervous system disorders, therapeutics, brain stimulation, spinal disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, craniofacial surgery and neurosurgical oncology have also been published. The journal archive traces the major advances and evolution of neurological research over past several years and forms a ready source of refined knowledge repository for physicians, neurosurgeons, physiotherapists, pharmacists as well as academic professionals and medical interns.

In the current calendar year, the journal has published two case reports, five short note communications, four research articles and two review articles at an average of three to four peer-reviewed articles per issue, with an overall rejection rate of 60% and with approximately 20 to 30 days of turn-around time per published manuscript. All the articles were published in a timely manner along with DOI allocation. These articles were contributed by about thirty internationally acclaimed and eminent clinical scientists and neurosurgeons from diverse geographical regions of the world. The published articles covered a wide range of contemporary research topics including epidural hematoma of spine, aneurysm, spinal deformities, kyphosis, scoliosis, spine surgery, alignment, back pain, low radicular pain, sagittal imbalance, public health, spine registry including british registry, epidural steroid, posterior lumbar interbody fusion, porous peek, lumbar arthrodesis, lumbar disc disease, parkinson’s disease, autism spectrum disorder, congenital pseudarthrosis, emergency MRI, postoperative neuroworsening, peroperative adjacent herniation, neurocognition, chemokines’s receptors, chemokines, spinal nerve root, comparative anatomy, intervertebral disc, multisensory integration kambin’s triangle and neural foramen. These publications form a substantial knowledge resource for enhancing our current understanding of fundamental and clinical neuroscience and promote International research collaborations and translation into beneficial health outcomes among patient affected with neurological diseases and disorders. I take this opportunity to extend my sincere thanks to all the contributing authors, editors and reviewers for their much valued professional services in bringing out the issues while upholding publication timelines.

Past few years has seen major advancements, sophistication and adoption of innovative technologies in other treatment approaches in spine and neurosurgery including computer assisted navigation, robotic surgery, minimal invasive surgery of cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine. The journal is geared to focus on these emerging areas of research and clinical application and with the support of our editorial board and International advisory members as well as expert reviewers,I am very much looking forward for publication of forthcoming issues.
