Disease control and management is a crucial aspect of poultry farming, as it plays a significant role in ensuring the health and wellbeing of the birds. Poultry farmers must adopt effective measures to prevent and manage diseases to minimize the impact of diseases on the flock's productivity and profitability. Farmers should ensure that their flocks are vaccinated against common diseases, and they have to follow a strict quarantine policy for any new birds entering the farm. Another critical aspect is monitoring the flock's health status. They should routinely observe their birds for signs of illness and promptly report any unusual symptoms to a veterinarian. Regular health checkup, such as blood tests and faecal examinations, can also help to identify any underlying health issues before they become severe. There is necessity to implement good hygiene practices to prevent the spread of diseases. Farmers should also avoid overcrowding the birds, as it increases the risk of disease transmission. It is best to build farm in an isolated area, atleast three km away from nearest poultry in the case of breeder farm and 1.6 km in the case o f commercial layer and broiler farm. Distance should be maintained between breeders and grow-out farms and facilities such as hatcheries and feed mills.

By prioritizing disease control and management, poultry farmers can ensure the long-term success of their businesses while promoting the health and wellbeing of their birds. There are several preventive methods for disease control in poultry farms that can help to maintain the health and well-being of the birds and prevent the spread of diseases. Some of the most effective methods are implementing biosecurity measures is one of the most important preventive methods for disease control in poultry farms. This includes controlling access to the farm, disinfecting equipment and facilities, and using appropriate protective gear. Vaccinations can help to prevent the spread of diseases in poultry flocks. Vaccines should be administered according to a vaccination program that is tailored to the specific needs of the flock. New birds should be quarantined and tested for diseases before being introduced to the flock. This can help to prevent the spread of diseases. Providing clean and uncontaminated feed and water is important to prevent the spread of diseases. Feed should be stored in a clean, dry place. Effective pest control is important to prevent the spread of diseases. This includes measures to control rodents, insects, and other pests that can carry and spread diseases. Regular monitoring and surveillance of the flock can help to detect and prevent the spread of diseases. This includes regular health check-up, observation of bird behavior and testing for diseases. Proper nutrition is essential for maintaining a healthy immune system in birds. Checking the label on worming treatments for withholding periods is essential as some are not suitable for production birds and consulting a veterinarian is most important.
