Pediatrics is the branch of medicine which deals with the health and medical care of infants, children, and adolescents from birth up to the puberty. The aims of studying paediatrics is to reduce infant and child rate of deaths, awareness to control the spread of infectious disease, promote healthy lifestyles for a long disease-free life and help to decrease the problems of children and adolescents with chronic conditions. Neonatology is a subspecialty of pediatrics which also cares for new borns, especially the ill or premature baby. The main duty of neonatologists are to take care of infants who are ill or require special medical care due to prematurity, low birth weight, intrauterine growth restriction, congenital malformations (birth defects), sepsis, pulmonary hypoplasia etc.
