Abstract


The rationale behind this presentation comes from a dearth of information regarding the prevalence of cases of comorbidity of specific types of addiction and mental disorders. This paper is going to examine how addiction can be a result of mental disorders such as borderline, depression, schizophrenia, bipolar and anxiety among. Not only but addiction also negatively impact prognosis of mental disorders, However addiction may also result in a number of mental health disorders and psychosocial problems such as anxiety, depression and loneliness. To this end there are clinical recommendations when assessing for either addiction or any mental disorder.

Madondo Chrispen is an Intern Clinical Psychologist in Harare Central hospital in Zimbabwe. He works as Correctional officer and Clinician who is responsible for Neuropsychological Assessments in stroke patients in Zimbabwe.
