Abstract

One of the important causes of disability and premature death is diabetes. It is one of four prioritized noncommunicable diseases targeted by leaders of the world. Unfortunately, many countries still unaware about the social and economic impact of the disease, which could be the biggest barrier for effective prevention and treatment strategies that may help to stop the inexorable increase of type 2 diabetes. Diabetic foot is said to occur in 25% of diabetics, which is a huge number if we know that in Saudi Arabia around 25% of adult population has diabetes. Enough studies have demonstrated the grave prognosis of patients after repeated ulcers, multiple minor amputations and or major amputation. The present study coming from the first Amputation prevention Center in Saudi Arabia, aims to evaluate the incidence, risk factors and the outcomes during the period from April 2017 until September 2018. Data will be retrospectively collected from patient electronic health records for all diabetic patients presented to Kahel Specialized Center (KSA) during that period. Patients will be followed-up until healing occurred or patients who get treatment for 3 months. Data will be analyzed by using IBM SPSS version 20 software. The study is under analysis now.
