Abstract
In the last decade hair restoration surgery dramatically changed in terms of technology, new devices and professional skills. Now it is possible to obtain results that seemed very difficult to be achieved few years ago. Nevertheless, in most cases Hair Transplant cannot lead to a complete restoration and we can get only a partial repair. This can be due to the extent of the baldness, quality of the donor area, quality of the skin, age etc. The biggest issue is about discrepancy between total number of hair available in the donor area and the number of hair needed in the recipient area. Other to that we must consider that baldness in a young patient is completely different compared to a similar condition in a patient in his fifties or more, because of different progress of the condition. So when discussing with a patient about our operation plan, we must be sure to inform the patient properly about what it can be achieved in his personal case in terms of density and possible future scenarios due to the alopecia progression.
