HPV and laryngeal cancer in Egypt

Abstract
Human papilloma viruses (HPV) are clearly the etiologic agent of benign lesions of the head and neck, and some of those lesions can undergo malignant conversion. The viral role in laryngeal carcinoma has been studied, with conflicting results according to the population and methodology used. The talk will reveal: The prevalence of HPV in Arab countries and worldwide; the difference between HPV in oropharyngeal and laryngeal carcinoma; our experience with HPV in cancer larynx and; the relation between HPV with tumor size and nodal metastasis.
Biography
Mohammed A Gomaa is a Professor of Otorhinolaryngology at Minia University, Egypt. He completed his/her Graduation at Minia University in 1990, Residency at Minia University Hospital. He was a Research Fellow at University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center from 1996 to 1998 working on Head and Neck Cancer. He is a member of American Academy of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck surgery since 1999 and now serving on diversity committee and on international committee, also serving now as a Global Liaison of Otorhinolaryngology Section of American National Medical Association. He has published 25 articles He is a Consultant, Research Leader, and international scholar in the field of Otorhinolaryngology.
