Abstract
Ganglioneuromas are rare benign tumors arising from the neural crest tissue and are most commonly located in the posterior mediastinum and retroperitoneum. They are rarely found in the adrenal gland. This tumor is usually asymptomatic and in the majority of cases is detected incidentally. A 25-year-old indian male patient presnts with occasional pain in left lumbar region . He had no significant past medical or surgical history. Physical examination did not reveal any signs and the results of routine laboratory tests were all within the normal ranges. Patient underwent PET-CT of his abdomen, which showed large heterogenously contrast enhancing soft tissue mass in left adrenal gland measuring 6.3×5.1×4.4 cm.. Our patient underwent an exploratory laparotomy with left adrenalectomy without any related complications. Histopathological examination further confirmed the diagnosis as adrenal ganglioneuroma. However, the accurate diagnosis of this tumor remains a challenge due to its nonspecific clinic and radiological features. Open surgery is mainstay of treatment in cases of large adrenal ganglioneuromas.
