Abstract


The purpose of this study was to compare the existential anxiety and spiritual intelligence among addicts Methadone Maintenance Treatment (MMT) and Center of the Therapeutic Community (TC) in Mashhad. The sample was included 54 addicts MMT and 54 resident TC who were assigned by random sampling. Results showed that there are significant differences between groups on existential anxiety scores and spiritual intelligence that addicts TC was showed more spiritual intelligence and less existential anxiety than addicts MMT. Significance level of (p<0.05) was considered. Existential anxiety is one of the foundations and origin of mental disorders and normal people are less likely to have existential anxiety. In contrast, people with high risk behaviors particular addicts more afflicted by existential anxiety. With education and awareness to addiction centers with meaning and spiritual issues can lead people in to a life without drug addiction.
