Abstract


Aim: Aim of this study is to share our experience of treating recurrent and symptomatic cases of invasive mycotic rhinosinusitis presented with orbital involvement; and analyzing results of our surgical clearance and long-term oral antifungal treatment in terms of improving symptoms and achieving better control and successful cure. Study Design: Descriptive case study. Method: Series of 11 patients (Apr. 2015 - Oct. 2016) Result: Surgical clearance and antifungal administration remained thorough treatment for improving orbital symptoms; better success rate and no further morbidity. Conclusion: Endoscopic clearance and post-operative oral antifungal therapy is an effective and curative treatment for recurrent and symptomatic invasive mycotic rhinosinusitis cases.

Furrukh Younus completed his MBBS from Dow University of Health Sciences and Post-graduation studies (MCPS and FCPS) in Otorhinolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery from College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan. He has also completed MPhil in Hearing Sciences from Isra Institute of Rehabilitation Sciences, Isra University. He has presented his work in various Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery Conferences and meetings internationally and articles being published in reputed journals.
