Political ‘New Dawn’ in Myanmar: Implications and Future Prospects for the Myanmar Navy

Myanmar has always been given scant, almost negligible, mention in the field of study on naval modernisation in Asia. The first reason for this is the paucity of reliable information available. The second reason is that, based on what is being known about the Myanmar Navy’s modernization attempts, quantitatively and qualitatively they were deemed to be insignificant compared to the phenomenal growth in capabilities of Myanmar’s neighbors in the region.
