Analysis of Serum Cholinesterase Activity in Burn Patients
Cholinesterase levels in serum are useful as a test of liver function as an inhibitor of possible insecticide poisoning or for the detection of patients with atypical forms of the enzyme. Little is known concerning cholinesterase activity in persons with thermal burns. To study the serum cholinesterase activity in patients with burns total 100 cases admitted in the burn ward were taken. The aim of the study was to estimate serum cholinesterase level in burn patients. The serum cholinesterase level in burn patients was estimated on admission and on alternate day till death. It was found that the serum cholinesterase level decreases after post burn period. Also the survival period has an inverse relationsh... view moreĀ»
