Retinopathy in Diabetic Pregnancy-IGF and Progression

Retinopathy is of outmost importance in relation to conservation of the visual function and the quality of life. Diabetes mellitus is one of the main causes of blindness in the Western world. The mechanism by which pregnancy, diabetes, and retinopathy interact is by higher retinal flow and by circulating and vitreous IGF-1.
