Dr. Jesmine Khan is a medical doctor who received her MBBS degree from Mymensingh Medical College, Dhaka University, Bangladesh. She received her PhD degree from Osaka University Graduate school of Medicine, Japan. Currently, she is working as an Associate Professor in Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia. She is active in writing and has published peer-reviewed articles in reputed journals. She presented her work in various national and international scientific meetings. Well-known function of the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) is digestion and absorption of food. A healthy GIT is essential for the proper digestion, absorption and utilization of food. Improper digestion and absorption of food leads to malabsorption, diarrhea, malnutrition and deficiencies of various nutrients.
