Dr Louis Touyz was in private practice General Dentist 1962-1978. He took up position as senior lecturer/specialist 1983-1991 University Witwatersrand, South Africa. He was recruited as full-time, tenured Professor and Director Periodontics McGill 1992-2013, and received a Merit Teaching Award McGill 1994. He was examiner of academic degrees for: BSc, BDS, DDS, DMD, MDent, PhD degrees.. During his career he has qualified over 2000 dentists.

Demystifying Apples in Health and Dentistry
Apples are frequently associated with chewing and teeth. Anecdotal folklore ascribes magical powers to apples. Besides growing fresh fruit harvests for consumption, universally apple industries include ciders, fruit juices, dried fruits jellies and confection products. Large varieties of apples exist worldwide, but apple consumption does not prevent or cure tooth decay. Apples contain fermentable carbohydrates that overwhelm any protective plaque-biofilm removal apple fibre may impart after rigorous chewing.
