Martin received his B.Sc. (Hons) in Information Technology from DkIT in 2005. He worked in industry as a help desk analyist for 1 year for iQon Technolgies here in Dundalk before becoming a Field based Systems Engineer for Fujitsu for 4 years. Whilst an engineer Martin returned to DkIT and received his M.Sc. in Computing in 2009. In 2010 martin returned full time to DkIT to perform a Ph.D. into the are of software engineering with specific focus on the development of software for use in the medical device domain.

Adopting Agile Practices when Developing Medical Device Software
Agile methods are gaining momentum amongst the developers of non-safety critical software. They offer the ability to improve development time, increase quality and reduce development costs. Despite this, the rate of adoption of agile methods within safety critical domains remains low. On face value agile methods appear to be contradictory to regulatory requirements.
