Corynebacterium diphtheria, the causative agent of diphtheria, is an uncommon cause of infective endocarditis. Although the incidence is low, the non- toxigenic (NT) strains of C. diphtheria are being increasingly reported to be associated with endocarditis due to their aggressive and destructive nature with high rates of associated morbidity and mortality.
