Dr. Vivek Hegde is currently working as a scientist at ICAR- Central Tuber Crops Research Institute at Thiruvnantapuram, Keral, India. He received his Ph.D from ICAR. His current resarch interests includes Vegetable Science ( Tissue Culture ), Plant breeding and Plant tissue cuture, Renewable Energy and Space Power.

Computational Analysis of Short Tandem Repeat (STR) Markers from Genome Wide Expression Regions of Sugar Beet (Beeta vulgaris)
Using transcriptome and expressed sequence tags (EST) data to extract short Tandem Repeats (STRs) also called Simple Sequence Repeats (SSRs) or microsatellites and develop markers has progressively become prevalent as number of sequencing data for various crops under public domain is mounting astonishingly. In the present study we have explored the genome-wide expression/genic STRs from sugar beet.
