Abstract
The wave of globalization and free market has not only affected the developed countries but now also the third world countries. Even in the power sector, electricity has now gained a status of product. Both electric utilities and end users of electric power are becoming increasingly concerned with the electrical pollution and quality of electric power. This paper outlines some of the general power quality problems that can be faced by domestic and industrial users. It also highlights the need of power quality and the solutions for the improvement of power quality. Finally, it discusses power quality. Basically in Iraq, there are no power quality standards, because of which the power supplies are heavily polluted, and in the early future, Iraq network is expected to expand and new power stations will be connected to the network. Some standards are required to be adopted and implemented in Iraq.
