Abstract


Very little literature available on health needs and access to health for people with disabilities in Afghanistan. According to the recent survey by Afghanistan Human rights commission, Persons with disabilities who needs Prostheses or Artificial limbs live around 100 KM away from Assistive Devices and Rehabilitation centers. The 4 Decades of War and situation of Persons with Disabilities: Evidence suggests that people with disabilities have above average health needs, with higher use of specialist medical services and the severity of disability increasing the need for health services. Persons with Disabilities live as poorest of the poor and needs higher treatment and Physical Rehabilitation services having a consistently higher health expenditure and with higher expenses before they receive Rehabilitation. Very little literature available on health needs and access to health for people victims of War conflicts in Afghanistan. When you approach to hospitals or health clinics, they do not look at your disability, they look to see if you can pay, if you cannot pay you wait a long time near the door”
