Abstract
Rights are rules of interaction between people. It is defined as claims of an individual that are essential for the development of his or her own self and that are recognized by society or State. These are legal, social, or ethical principles of freedom or entitlement and are the fundamental normative rules about what is allowed to people or owed to people, according to some legal system, social convention, or ethical theory. Special groups are those who need special attention such as children, women, HIV, handicapped, aged and mentally ill. To protect these groups, these rights have been formulated by the constitution. According to Constitution of India),Constitution of India is the supreme law of India given by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and B.N. Rau which came effective from January 26, 1950. It is the longest written constitution in the world. It has 105 amendments till date(2022). The last amendment was on August 10, 2021.Girls and women need to assert their rights in a genuine way so that their contribution and value in the society will be well felt as well bring awareness to the community that they are the crucial group for the development of individuals, families, communities and nations. Participatory governance at all levels will be more edifying and satisfying. Women need to be selfaware of their importance and contribution to the society so that they can assert it in a delicate and genuine manner. Many studies done across the globe evidence girl child’s oppression and abuse which will be detrimental for her future development and contribution, some turn out to be delinquents due to the abuse and insults in their course of development. The speaker would high light the need for prevention of abuse among girls and the need for their rights to be asserted from a very young age.
Biography
Dr. Mary Anbarasi Johnson working as a professor and Head in pediatric nursing department, CMC Vellore. She worked as Clinical Nurse Specialist in PICU for a year and as Assit Professor in USA for two years. She also worked in administration in nursing, in Saudi Arabia Defence Sector. CMC gave her an opportunity to be Master trainer for International Projects like GFATM, IMNCI at national level as well national projects like ICMR Infection control, Child Sexual Abuse Protection ,OSCE by Dr. MGR Medical university as well Diabetic Educators programme etc.
