Abstract

Basal cell carcinoma accounts for 80% of all non-melanoma skin cancers being the most common malignancy in the fair skin population. Though non-metastatic it is associated with an important local morbidity due to multiple factors (frequent facial localization, high relapse tendency, multiplicity). In order to reduce the added surgical damage it is paramount to establish an adequate resection margin with complete excision. The authors try to correlate the clinical aspects of various types of basal cell carcinoma with dermatoscopical and histological findings for a better over-all picture and management of this malignancy.
