Kaohsiung Medical University

Kaohsiung Medical University was established in 1954. The University was the first private medical educational institution in Taiwan. Initially, KMU had only one faculty--Medicine. Today, the University has 7 academic colleges with 21 faculties offering Bachelors, Masters and Ph.D. programs, 527 faculty members, and 6,910 students. KMU is conveniently located in downtown Kaohsiung, the second largest city in Taiwan. After more than the first half century, KMU is a world class educational institution. It is not only geared to training outstanding medical and nursing specialists but it also placing equal emphasis on the sciences and liberal arts. KMU students are encouraged to participate in volunteer services for the local community and various parts of the world.

KMU has become a leading research-oriented university and has taken up itself the responsibility of cultivating students in fields related to medicine with the in-depth knowledge, skills and competencies they need to become successful contributing members of the worlds health industry.
