Carola Kryschi currently works at the Department of Chemistry and Pharmacy, Friedrich-Alexander-University of Erlangen-Nürnberg. Carola does research in Materials Science and Physical Chemistry. Their current project is '1. Design and characterization of magnetoplasmonic Au-iron oxide nanoparticles as dose enhancer in radiotherapy and for drug delivery.

Oxidized Silicon Nanoparticles and Iron Oxide Nanoparticles for Radiation Therapy

Our research objective is to develop superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles and silicon nanoparticles as radiosensitizers for cancer therapy. After internalization by breast tumor cells and irradiation with X-rays, the nanoparticles were observed to enhance the oxidative stress in tumor cells.
