Biography
Dr. Vega is a biologist from Centro de Investigación y Estudios Avanzados del IPN, Unidad Merida(CINVESTAV). Her research focuses on fish ecology in coastal and inland waters of the Yucatan Peninsula. She is generating a database of fish species composition and is validating temporal and spatial fish assemblage variations in relation to environmental conditions. She is also using fish as biotic indicators to evaluate disturbed conditions in coastal areas and recently is using molecular analysis to verify the taxonomic identity and populations structure of several fish species.
