Dr. Nasreen Roberts has conducted research on the treatment of addictive disorders, including the evaluation of behavioral interventions for nicotine dependence, and pharmacotherapies for the treatment of cocaine dependence and alcohol dependence. Her current research interests include investigating the mechanisms of action of promising pharmacotherapies in human laboratory studies, as well as clinical trials combining behavioral interventions such as contingency management with promising pharmacotherapies for cocaine, alcohol and opiate dependence.

Aim: a) Examine the prevalence of substance abuse among adolescents referred for Urgent psychiatric consultation b) compare characteristics and outcome with abstinent peers.
Methods: This was a retrospective study of prevalence of substance abuse amongst adolescents assessed in a university hospital based urgent psychiatric consult service.
