Pharmacognostic Study of Seeds of Aconitum chasmanthum Stapf ex Holmes. A Wild Medicinal Plant of Neelum Valley Azad Jammu & Kashmir Pakistan

Aconitum chasmanthum Stapf ex holmes, locally known as Mohri belong to family Ranunculaceae is used in folk medicines in a mixture forms but pure plant material is highly toxic. According to IUCN red list data version 3.1 (2001) and criteria for species survival; this species is placed under critically endangered category. The aim of this study was to analyze the seeds of Aconitum chasmanthum physicochemically and phytochemically. Maximum bioactive compounds (alkaloids, terpenoids, glycosides, flavonoids, saponins, carbohydrate, proteins and fixed oil) were detected in the extract of acetone, methanol, chloroform and water.
