Abstract

Sleep talking also known as somniloquy. Sleep disorder in which a person talks during sleep without being aware of it. It may be dialogues or monologues, complete gibberish or mumbling of person during deep sleep. But mostly it is rarely short lived occurrence. It is a Parasomnia which happens only at specific part of sleep cycle, it may be also Catathrenia which is nocturnal groaning or REM sleep behavior disorder which makes person act physically during sleep

Introduction

Sleep talking also known as somniloquy. Sleep disorder in which a person talks during sleep without being aware of it. It may be dialogues or monologues, complete gibberish or mumbling of person during deep sleep. But mostly it is rarely short lived occurrence. Description

Sleep loss leads to wide-ranging impairments in cognition and socio-emotional skills; communicative ability is also affected. The utterances recorded during night-time video-polysomnography were analyzed for number of words, speech episodes, frequency, gaps and pauses, negative/imperative/interrogative tone, politeness, and abuse. There is no cure in treatment of sleep talking, but we can minimize regularity of sleep talking by different lifestyle practices Avoiding unnecessary stress Every individual have minor stress in their daily life but prolonged stress have serious effects leading in quality of no proper sleep and may have impact on health related problems like diabetes, insomnia, mood disturbances, anxiety and sleep related disorders By practicing deep breathe medications, yoga, exercises, good time management in work may lead to reduce stress in work load. Consistent sleep schedule should be maintained An irregular sleep schedule can disrupt your circadian rhythms making person a little more prone to sleep talking & sleep walking, following regular sleep pattern may help in decreasing many health problems, Practicing Good Sleep Hygiene- By using comfortable pillows and mattress and pillow, keeping clean room environment, Maintain calming night time routine. Limiting caffeine intake In this busy world most people are intended to take caffeine drinks for work related stress, so avoiding of coffee and other drinks and smoking should be prevented

Causes of Sleep Talking According to researcher the cause of sleep talking is not known, though it is practically least genetic [1], sleep talking is majorly seen in people with anxiety, depression, post traumatic sleep disorders. Sleep talking may occur due to REM Sleep Behavior Disorder (RBD), or by acting out one’s dreams, which may be yelling and talking, sleep Apnea, Restless Legs Syndrome, and a nocturnal sleep-related eating disorder. Other potential causes of sleep talking may include stress, sickness or fever and certain medications used by individual. Detection Of Sleep Talking A correct and detailed history from the patient, bed partner, or from their family member about sleep questionnaire. Most sleep complaints excessive sleepiness or abnormal behaviors or talking, walking during sleep [2]. Inquire into when symptoms started the person sleep pattern since onset and factors like medical, environmental, occupational, and psychological/stress lifestyle choices which may have predisposed or precipitated the illness, and improved or worsened symptoms. Completed 2-week sleep log or sleep diary can be utilized to compute sleep efficiency, total sleep time, and number of awakenings during the night, which can be used to diagnose sleep disorders and monitor efficacy of treatment. On the basis of the information from questionnaires and sleep diary, the chief complaint, and the history, a working diagnosis are noted and consulted to neurophysician [3]. Conclusion The diagnosis of sleep disorders requires careful observation of history taking, examination, and laboratory testing. Sleep talking is disturbance to other person by overcoming symptoms and treatments it can be treated and overcome of sleep disorder can be easily affiliated by different processing techniques. A proper outcome of disease can be examined and consultation of physician is properly advised and treatment is received
