The State University of Ponta Grossa (UEPG, Universidade Estadual de Ponta Grossa in Portuguese) is one of the five state universities in Paraná, Brazil. The institution has two campi in Ponta Grossa city as well as a college ground in each of the following cities: Telêmaco Borba, Palmeira, Castro, São Mateus do Sul e Jaguariaíva. The Institution offering 28 undergraduate courses and 6 qualifications, in addition to post-graduate courses at the level of specialization, master's and doctoral degrees. Its area of influence covers approximately 22 municipalities of the State of Parana.
The UEPG research was created by the Government of the State of Parana, through the Law 6.034, November 6, 1969, and Decree no 18.111, January 28, 1970, which resulted in the incorporation of the Faculties already existing State and that worked alone in the city of Ponta Grossa. Among them, the State College of Philosophy, Sciences and Letters of Ponta Grossa, State College of Pharmacy and Dentistry of Ponta Grossa, State College of Law of Ponta Grossa and the State College of Economic Sciences and Administration of Ponta Grossa.
The university is also known in Brazil as a center of excellence in Journalism (area on which UEPG is considered to be among the top ten in the country).
