Research Interest
In Japan, as in many European countries, more than one-tenth of married couples are experiencing problems related to infertility. The cause of the decrease in the production of sperm in humans is uncertain. Since fertility treatment often has an insufficient therapeutic gain and the childbirth frequency is suffering from infertility, it is hoped that understanding of the mechanism of infertility will lead to the development of genetic diagnoses and auxiliary treatment methods. Our research is intended to develop new diagnostic methods for treating male infertility that have little physical or economical cost in order to select the appropriate infertility treatment method and create new infertility treatment methods. Moreover, the results should lead to the determination of a method for identifying the environmental factors that cause germ-line toxicity, subsequent treatments, and so on.
