Dentists are doctors who specialize in oral health. Their responsibilities include: Advocating oral health and disease restraint. Creating treatment plans to maintain or restore the oral health of their patients. They treat dental cases, such as cavities, and they also educate their patients about how to improve their dental health. Dental surgeons see patients who have deformities or other issues related to their dental health. They perform surgery on the patients and will make sure to correct specific dental issues. Pediatric dentists are dedicated to the oral health of children from early stages. They have the experience and qualifications to care for a child’s teeth, gums, and mouth throughout the various stages of childhood.
Dentistry, also known as dental medicine and oral medicine, is a branch of medicine that consists of the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders, and conditions of the oral cavity, commonly in the dentition but also the oral mucosa, and of adjacent and related structures and tissues, particularly in the maxillofacial (jaw and facial) area.
