Pukyong National University

Pukyong National University was founded in 1996. It is the first national university in Busan area to successfully integrate the National Fisheries University of Busan, built in 1941 as the fist fisheries institute of advanced learning, and the Busan National University of Technology, built in 1924 as the first institute of modern engineering technology.
PKNU also leads university’s specialization and globalization. UN’s World Fisheries University is planned to move into the Daeyeon Campus, and 30 government-funded projects, including the Initiative for College of Humanities’ Research and Education (CORE), the Specialized College of Korea (CK), the College of Lifelong Learning, the Leading University for Startup Business, and the Ocean & IT Convergence Bionics Technology Development and Research, are on the way.
Seven colleges - humanities and social sciences, natural sciences, business administration, engineering, fisheries science, and environmental and marine sciences and technology, lifelong learning- and graduate schools, five special graduate schools, and two professional graduate schools are located on four campuses: Daeyeon (359,509㎡), Yongdang (323,864㎡), Gijang (67,320㎡), Goseong (16,892㎡). PKNU accepts 3,500 new students every year, and a total of 25,000 students enjoy campus life with 600 professors. The school also has strong network of 190,000 alumni in and outside the country, including Chairman of Dongwon Kim Jae-chul. In PKNU, 1,252 foreign students from 68 countries study with various learning programs, enhancing the reputation of the University as a global educational institution.
