Karen Dolores Hendricks-Muñoz is the William Tate Graham Professor of Neonatal Medicine, Chair of the Division of Neonatal Medicine and also Training Program Director of Neonatal and Perinatal Medicine at Medical College of Virginia of Virginia Commonwealth University. She is also the Deputy Director of the VCU Center on Health Disparities. A graduate of Fordham and Yale Schools of Medicine and Public Health, she served many years at NYU School of Medicine as Chief of Neonatology and Fellowship Training Program Director as well as Co-Chair of NYU Diversity before joining VCU and the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU as Professor and Chair of Neonatal Medicine. She is an AOA inductee and member of the American Pediatric Society (APS) as well as a member of many scientific societies and associations. She has authored many National and International articles, chapters and reviews. Dr. Hendricks-Muñoz’s current research focuses on the development of infant immune health, the developing microbiome and the interplay of the external environment on later health or disease development. Further areas of research include Quality Care within hospital systems and the neonatal intensive care unit.
