Biography

Dr. Joan King is a certified Acute Care Nurse Practitioner who assisted in writing the first national certification exam. She practices at the Preanesthesia Evaluation Clinic at Vanderbilt Medical Center and has played a primary role in the development of Vanderbilt’s Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner specialty program. Her area of interest is in cardiovascular diseases both surgical and medical. Through numerous grants, Dr. King has developed both a modified distance option for experienced RNs wishing to become Adult-Gerontology-Acute Care Nurse Practitioners as well as the Intensivist subspecialty. Dr. King has earned the following degrees: PhD from George Peabody College for Teachers, Post-Master’s, Vanderbilt University School of Nursing, MSN from Vanderbilt University School of Nursing, BSN from Vanderbilt University School of Nursing.

Research Interest

Dr. Joan King's research interest include Acute Care Nurse, Adult-Gerontology. Her area of interest is in cardiovascular diseases both surgical and medical.
